We train you to teach

The training is online (through Zoom) and is open to any young person. Introverted or extroverted, quiet or outgoing: we help you become a good tutor for your parent, or for others in your community. You’ll learn things like:

  • How to build patience and encourage others.
  • How to give clear, step-by-step instructions.
  • How to keep adults and seniors motivated.

Two ways to start. You can do both.

Teach your family at home

Ages 11 and up

Your parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, or other relatives may want to learn things you already know how to do. Learn how to be a patient, clear teacher, then teach them at home.

  • Learn online from professional teachers. Our training shows you how to teach, step by step.
  • Teach the people closest to you. Things like using a phone, video calling family, email, online forms, or English.
  • Teach what you know. You already know more than you think. We help you share it.

Start a program in your community

Ages 15 to 30

If you’re younger, visit our YEP in schools page.

Lead your own YEP program for adults and seniors, with our training and coaching from our team of educators and social workers.

  • The training. 24 hours of group training and at least 10 hours of one-on-one coaching, all online.
  • Who can join. Any young person aged 15 to 30. You don’t need to have been a YEP tutor.
  • A program budget. We build it with you, and you manage it to run your program.
  1. 1Tell us your idea. A program that would help adults and seniors in your community. Rough ideas are welcome.
  2. 2Get trained and coached. 24 hours of group training and at least 10 hours of one-on-one coaching, online.
  3. 3Lead your own program. In your community, with a program budget we build with you and our team behind you.

You have to be confident and kind to earn a room’s attention. I was shy in my first session, but I found the confidence to speak up and gently redirect them.”
