Privacy Policy

Youth Empowering Parents (YEP) is a Canadian charity based in Toronto, Ontario. This policy explains what personal information we collect through our website, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you have any questions, email us at info@yepeducation.com.

We only collect information you choose to give us through our forms:

• Contact form: your name, email address, and message, plus any details you add about your school, organization, or group (for example, its name, city, and the number of people involved).
• Youth sign-up form: your name, age, email, city, province or territory, and optional phone number, and what you’d like to teach or the program you’d like to start.
• Parent or guardian details: if a young person under 18 signs up to teach their family at home, we also ask for a parent or guardian’s name, relationship, email or phone number, and their consent.
• School application: your name, role, school, school board, city, contact details, and information about your class and plans.
• Donations: donations are processed by CanadaHelps. See “Donations” below.

We don’t use analytics or advertising tools on our website, and we don’t set our own tracking cookies.

We use your information only to:

• reply to your message or application;
• set up, run, and support the program you’ve asked about;
• keep in touch about that program, including asking for feedback; and
• understand, in total and without naming anyone, how many people our programs reach.

We don’t sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we don’t add you to a mailing list unless you ask us to.

Many of the people we work with are young. We take extra care with their information:

• When a young person under 18 signs up to teach their family at home, we contact their parent or guardian about the sign-up, not the young person.
• Young people under 18 need a parent or guardian’s consent to take part in our programs.
• We ask only for the information we need to run the program safely.

A parent or guardian can ask to see, correct, or delete their child’s information at any time by emailing info@yepeducation.com.

Your information is seen only by YEP staff and volunteers who need it to respond to you or run your program. We also use a few trusted services to run our website:

• Formspree receives our website forms and sends them to our inbox. Formspree is based in the United States, so form submissions are stored there.
• CanadaHelps processes online donations. See “Donations” below.
• YouTube and Google Drive host some of the videos on our site. If you play a video, Google may collect information about your visit under its own privacy policy.

We may also share information if we’re required to by law, or to protect the safety of a participant.

Because some of the services we use are based in the United States, your information may be stored or processed there. While it’s outside Canada, it is subject to the laws of that country, and may be accessed by authorities there under those laws.

Online donations are made through CanadaHelps, a Canadian charity that processes donations and issues tax receipts on our behalf. When you donate, CanadaHelps collects your payment details and shares your name and contact information with us so we can thank you, unless you choose to give anonymously. We never see or store your card details. CanadaHelps’ own privacy policy applies to the information you give them.

We keep your information only as long as we need it for the purpose you gave it to us, or as required by law (for example, donation records). When we no longer need it, we delete it.

Our website uses a secure (encrypted) connection, access to your information is limited to the people who need it, and we use reputable services to store it. No method of sending or storing information online is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect it.

You can ask us at any time to:

• tell you what personal information we have about you;
• correct it if it’s wrong;
• delete it; or
• stop contacting you.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll post the new version on this page and change the “Last updated” date below.
